Welcome to the EHDEN Portal

The European Health Data & Evidence Network (EHDEN) project aspires to be the trusted observational research ecosystem to enable better health decisions, outcomes and care. Its mission is to provide a new paradigm for the discovery and analysis of health data in Europe, by building a large-scale, federated network of data sources standardised to the OMOP common data model.

The EHDEN Portal provides an entry point to the growing list of tools in our ecosystem. Of these tools, Database Catalogue (including Dashboards) and EHDEN Academy are available for general use, while Arachne, Atlas and the Service Desk are still in development and only available to EHDEN Consortium members. Click on the icons below for  more information. Your feedback is highly appreciated.

Database Catalogue

Provides metadata on the databases in the EHDEN data network.

Network Dashboards

Enables the comparison of OMOP CDM databases.

EHDEN Academy

Our free, online and publicly available learning platform.

Publications

An overview of all deliverables and publications of EHDEN.

ARACHNE

Orchestration tool for research studies (available soon).

ATLAS

Need for a paradigm shift
There’s a strong need to maximise the transformational potential of real world evidence to improve patient outcomes. This requires an exceptional throughput of high quality analysis of standardised healthcare data across Europe. EHDEN is implementing a paradigm shift for the delivery of reliable evidence on the utilisation, safety and effectiveness of medicinal products throughout their lifecycle.

One of the biggest impediments to be able to learn from every data point our patients generate is the lack of interoperability of the data.

Standardising databases to the established OMOP-CDM is therefore a core activity in EHDEN through its open call process. We are building tools to support the Extraction Transform and Load process to the OMOP-CDM and perform quality control.

Standardised health data enables standardised analytics. EHDEN is collaborating with OHDSI to extend the catalogue of analytics and further develop tools for study design and execution.

EHDEN is implementing tools and procedures to execute studies in the data network for all stakeholders, including regulators, academia, and industry.

The OMOP-CDM databases are participating in studies initiated by the OHDSI community, the EMA, and others.

EHDEN has a close collaboration with OHDSI Europe to stimulate and enable the adoption of the OMOP-CDM in Europe. Have a look at the ongoing activities to setup National Nodes under the OHDSI Europe chapter to facilitate collaboration in and between the member states.
